Situated at the southern end of Poverty Bay on the East Coast of the North Island, Young Nick's Head was named by Captain Cook, after the 12-year old boy on the Endeavour who was the first of the crew to sight it. As well as naming rights, Nicholas Young received two gallons of rum!
